Workshop – Hand Build Earthenware Planters

May 26 @ 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 7:30 PM on Thursday, repeating until May 26, 2022

Explore the ancient pottery technique of hand building with ceramist Andrea Piller! Participants will learn a variety of techniques used in hand building, a clay forming technique that involves shaping the clay material without a pottery wheel, using one’s hands and simple tools. Participants will experiment and shape vessels for plants, utilizing soft and hard slab and varied surface treatments to create their own set of unique handbuilt ‘terra cotta’ or earthenware planters. These will be fired to maturity in a kiln but left unglazed. Participants will also develop awareness of their personal aesthetics and decision making in creativity. All levels of artistic experience/expertise welcome. Registration required.
