Biglake Arts Music Festival Beethoven Marathon
August 25 @ 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Widely regarded as one of the greatest musicians to have ever lived, Beethoven is probably the most influential composer in the history of music, having evolved musical form and ideas in ways that are still being talked about to this day. He is most famous for his 9 symphonies, 5 piano concertos, 32 piano sonatas, and 16 string quartets. We invite you to experience all 10 violin and piano sonatas all in one day, with a star-studded line-up, catching a happy and fruitful moment in Beethoven’s life during his classical and early romantic periods. Join this fun event and challenge yourself to complete the Beethoven Marathon!
Programme & Event Schedule:
9:30am – doors open
10:00am to 12:00pm (with intermission) – Concert 1 of 3:
Piano: Phil Chiu, Jane Coop, Ilya Poletaev,
Violin: Matthew Chin, Hiu Sing Fan, Pui Ying Wong (MUSICUS young artists).
The performance of these Musicus artists is funded by the Musicus Society, generously sponsored by the Bank of China (Hong Kong) and the Tung Foundation.
1:30pm to 3:30pm (with intermission) – Concert 2 of 3:
Piano: Phil Chiu, Jane Coop, Louis Lortie
Violin: Timothy Chooi, Elissa Lee, Sheila Jaffé
4:30pm to 6:00pm (with intermission) – Concert 3 of 3:
Piano: Jane Coop, Louis Lortie
Violin: Timothy Chooi, Elissa Lee
6:00pm – concert marathon ends
