Embark on a musical journey with the Chooi Brothers with the enchanting melodies of Leclair, the profound harmonies of Bach, and the intricate compositions of Corigliano and Schnittke. This concert is a fusion of classical mastery and contemporary innovation, featuring the evocative works of Chan Ka Nin and the dynamic rhythms of Prokofiev.

Immersed with the Métis fiddle culture since a child, award-winning fiddler Alex Kusturok, together with pianist Jeremy Rusu, will captivate you with some catchy tunes and riveting rhythms. Together with Alex’s powerful percussive footwork, the historical Christ Church of the Mohawks of Tyendinaga will be filled with uplifting music – we dare you to try not to stomp your feet at this concert!

Saint Saëns best-known work, “Carnaval des animaux”, was ironically prohibited by the composer from being performed in public, as he feared the frivolity of the piece would damage his reputation. This popular piece will be performed with a fresh twist: Canadian composer William Rowson has written additional movements inspired by creatures of the Coast Salish territory, done in collaboration with knowledge keepers from the Indigenous nations.

The violin, viola and cello are string instruments that grow in size, lower in range, require more pressure to play and have different colours in the sound. Hear various duos that showcase each instrument brilliantly. This concert is in support of the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte Long-Term Care Project.

One of the festival’s highlights will be Canadian pianist Louis Lortie’s appearance with an all-Chopin program. Mr. Lortie’s highly acclaimed integral recording of Chopin’s works on the Chandos label secures his rank as an ideal interpreter and true Chopin expert.
