Farley Mowat’s And No Birds Sang Play Reading
Cameco Capitol Arts Centre 20 Queen St, Port HopeIn 1940, Farley Mowat enlisted with the Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment – the famous ‘Hasty Ps’ – and set off to war. The young lieutenant was one of the first to land in the Allied invasion of Sicily - a physically and mentally taxing campaign. Mowat described his war service in his memoir And No Birds Sang. It’s a haunting, honest and sometimes hilarious account of a brave young man confronting and overcoming his worst fears.
