May in Motion: Discover the Wonders of Nature

May 11 @ 12:30 PM - 4:00 PM

$85.00

Living Ways Foundation is thrilled to announce our next Cherishing Our Planet, May in Motion, guided by Rick Beaver of Alderville First Nation.

How do Ontario nature lovers approach the month of May after a winter that wasn’t? They might begin by looking for signs of early awakenings such as birds that seem to have returned early (and maybe never left!), a Woodcock spilling its spiralling twitter from a twilight sky, the Serviceberry that leafed or bloomed in April, salamanders that migrated well in advance of normal dates and perhaps, an exchange of toque and boots for light jackets and runners.

Spring is advancing early this year. For many months in a row now, the climate has been warmer than ever. How is life responding? Join us in May for a memorable stroll through a season in transition.

Rick Beaver is an internationally recognized Mississauga Ojibway elder, artist and ecologist from Alderville First Nation in Ontario. His diverse involvements have included consultations in aboriginal tourism, the arts, cultural history and ecosystem restoration and species-at-risk recovery efforts. He has been an ecology tour guide both in Canada and Mexico and host for “Spirit Walks”, an aboriginal tourism initiative for First Nation communities.

Your host is Leslie Fell, founder and Chair of Living Ways Foundation and owner of Fells Meadows.

This event will be held at 2429 County Road 25, Castleton, Ontario, the site of Fells Meadows Farms & Living Ways Foundation. The land features over 100 acres of tranquility for you to rejuvenate your mind, body, and soul in rolling hills, peaceful trails, gardens, forest, and more. Hiking difficulty is mild to moderate and will involve climbing some slopes.

Only 15 tickets will be sold. The price includes a nature walk, discussion circle and lights snacks and refreshments. We suggest waterproof hiking footwear and clothing and to bring water in a reusable container.
