Painting from Reference with Julie Seddon
County Arts Lab 206 Main Street, Unit 2E, Picton, Ontario, CanadaLed by artist facilitator Julie Seddon, this course will invite students to approach painting from photographs. Students will work from images that speak to them from their own photographs and from found photography. In this 5-week course, students will create exploratory paintings on paper to prepare for a work on canvas.
Phonotropes with Catherine Feraday Miller
County Arts Lab 206 Main Street, Unit 2E, Picton, Ontario, CanadaA phonotrope is a fun way to explore the art of animation through looping characters or shapes. Led by artist facilitator Catherine Feraday Miller, participants create a simple repeating movement over 16 frames on a paper disc. They can draw, paint, use collage – even sculpt simple forms with plasticine clay. Rotating on a record player, the images are synced to the class camera’s shutter speed and recorded as looping video.
